    Hi everyone!

I'm getting ready to release another ebook and will have an affiliate program using Clickbank again.

Would like to know what, in the opinion of moderators/visitors here, is the "ideal" set up in order to maximize affiliate signups while not losing sales.

For example, I was thinking about WHEN you tell people that you even have an affiliate program. If there's a link to your affiliate program on your sales letter page, and you give instructions on how to set it up, it's certainly possible (likely, even) that people who have Clickbank IDs will quickly configure their own affiliate link and buy that way.

In that case, it might be better not to even MENTION the affiliate program until someone's bought (and hopefully LOVED) your ebook. Although I guess you could SAY you have an affiliate program but not give any further info until they've purchased.

There's also the whole security deal in terms of not losing commissions, what kind of links to use (would prefer to use the same ones in my newsletter AND my website) and so on.

I use Adrian's Easy ClickMate now (and boy, was he helpful when I was setting it up!), by the way.

Why don't you want a new affiliate to buy through their own hoplink ?

If they are going to market your ebook , then they need to inspect it/read it so that they can give an honest opinion to their lists etc

You cannot sell something if you are not familiar with it !

Different story if they buy through their own hoplink just to read the ebook at a discount price and have no intention of marketing it as an affiliate.

Of course I want affiliates to have read the product... but there's no way to know if they're using an affiliate link just to avoid paying full price or because they're serious about promoting it.

Even so, that doesn't bother me much. What DOES bother me is how displaying an affiliate link helps people "steal" a commission from an affiliate who may be working hard to promote my product.

If I sell a product, and someone buys through an affiliate link, I still get my 50% or whatever percentage. So I'm not out anything.

But if someone SEES that it's an affiliate link, and changes the nickname to their own, the referring affiliate misses out on the commission.

    Diana,

Here is another thing to think about. I don't know if you use the
standard Clickbank sales link on your page or not, but if you are
your nickname is clearly visible in this link. If someone is familiar
with Clickbank, it won't matter if you are showing an affiliate link on
your site. They can get your nickname from the saleslink and still
use their hoplink to get credit for the sale. This is why I recommend
all merchants to cloak the sales link, but hardly any of them do.
