Often in order to do a better job of selling or writing about a certain ebook or product it is a good idea to buy it, right? I know a couple of years ago CB didn't allow affiliates to purchase products through their own affiliate link, has that changed?
I myself have bought products in order to promote them with a clear consious. Venders don't give away their ebooks but I sure would like to get a price break!
I suppose that I could pay full price, then return it but that too seems to be an ethical issue. _________________ Prayer is a powerful thing. Abide in Christ, he will abide in you and answer your prayers according to his will. |

That has never been the case.
Why not put it to the vendor that you might want to
promote his product and ask if he minds you purchasing
through your link

What is the general rule of thumb for purchasing a product via your own affiliate link? I have signed up for some programs that I would like to promote but in order to give a genuine review of the product I want to try it myself first. It would make sense to me to purchase using my own link for the commission but is this practice frowned upon? I suppose it would depend on the vendor and if they would even realize it. |

Check out your vendors affiliate page terms. If its not there its legal. Clickbank have no problems with it and most vendors don't mind. Sometimes its good contact vendor first and they might provide you with free access to the product |

I did it once and had no problem with it...but if you do it too many times....you might get banned for doing this as your details are recorded and so (might be) as your IP. |

It depends on the vendor so check with them; it can't hurt right?! |

I the reason for purchasing the product is so you can become familiar with the product to help you promote it then contact the vendor and ask for a review copy. |

My own practice is to buy from the seller or another affiliate if the product is strictly for my own use. If I am evaluating a product to promote, I will buy through my own link.

Some vendors prefer it and some don't. Best to ask the vendor in question. |

I dont see anything wrong with buying a vendors product with your own link. It's you still spending your own money on a product you want to try out to see if it is worth your while....most vendors will be happy to give you a sample or even the whole product to test if you are willing to promote it. Clickbank isnt against it..neither should the vendor be. I always!...try before i invest..trial and error sucks when its multiple times. |

wantuzus, if you buy a clickbank product through your own affiliate link, you pay the full price for the product, but the commission is credited into your clickbank account. This is like getting a discount or rebate on the price of the product, but you have to wait for it.
If you're new to clickbank and haven't made a lot of sales, you could end up waiting quite a while to get that money into your bank account though.
hope this helps, if you have more questions, let us know |

Checking with the terms with the affiliate providers link will help you for better understanding of the criterias for purchasing from your own affiliate link. |

ClickBank does not like this kind of practice and states in its accounting policy that affiliates must not abuse the ClickBank Affiliate program by using their accounts for the sole purpose of fraudulently collecting rebates and/or discounts on their own purchases... |

If you have multiple affiliates, try it for an affiliate that isn't bringing you in a lot of profit. However, I do not see why a company would have a problem with you buying something from them. |
