It would be nice to hear from a clickbank staff to see if their overall sales are down for the last two weeks.

There is another factor that I think is having effect on our sales and that is that email marketing is becoming less and less effective every day.

I know it is definitely not less traffic on my end also. I have a stats
script on my Clickbank pages and know that the people have been
reaching my site. What happens after clicking on the order link is
    where the problem is.

I've already been in contact with Steve Rouse and he says sales
are stronger than ever and affiliate sales are still strong. I would
just like to know what happened to mine? I also emailed the merchant
whose product I was promoting heavily, and he also said his sales
    are still strong.
I've never used email marketing so that wouldn't be a factor for me.
All traffic comes to my website where I promote the program. My
website has also not been down except for a short period where my
    provider was updating kernel.

The only thing I can think of is I have been hosting the sales page on
my site and linking directly to the order form. Maybe something has
changed where sales are not being credited properly for this type
    of link.
I don't really think this is the case though, because I have talked to
several others that don't use this type of link and have said their sales
    have been way down also.

I never used email marketing either.

This might be a little off topic but Iím very interested to learn more about it.
I think i saw the term "safe lists" mentioned here and there. Anyone use them and is it worth the effort conversion wise?

    Can somone post a link?

All I know is, I spent $60 yesterday promoting a product from
Clickbank, somedays I spend $80 or more, and not one sale of this
product yesterday. I switched back to a similar product outside of
Clickbank last night, and am seeing sales again. I like to promote
the Clickbank product because it pays a higher commission, but
right now the lower commission is better than no commission at
all. I used to do really well with this product until the past several
    days.

    Wayne,

Sales volume has been very strong for the vendor you are promoting, so it is likely not a product problem. And he has a huge percent of his sales being credited to affiliates. I don't see a tracking issue. Maybe there is a problem with your setup. Why don't you try linking to the vendor's sales page instead of directly to the order form -- at least as a test. Might be worth a try.

Thanks to all who replied to my post. Yes I think I will try the idea (to buy something from myself or at least see if my links work in that manner to see if a customer CAN make a purchase)
I have been with Clickbank for years and did OK ... not great.
I have been with 1rstPromotion for 1 year and I have had no success.
I did renew my ProStoreFront TODAY.
I am willing to go another year to see where it takes me
I am not a newbie. I use classifieds, I use adlandpro and sites like that, I place my links everywhere but I do NOT spam!
I love to use safelists and traffic exchanges.

What a great forum here and helpful people.
I appreciate all comments and suggestions.

    Steve,

I did change my sales page to use a redirect direct to the merchant's
sales page using my hoplink for a short while last week, but it didn't
seem to help. I may try that again, but the only thing I don't like about
that is I can't track my sales then. I like to know where my sales are
coming from, and with the direct link to the order form and with the
tracking code the merchant setup on a thank you page for me, I was
able to do that. I have been using this linking direct to the order form
for a long, long time and have not changed anything with how I link.
So are you saying that the direct link to the order form possibly does
not work anymore like it has in the past? And do you plan on
implementing some kind of statistics for affiliates so they can track
their sales in the future? Many other independent programs that I know
of offer this, and I would think it should be possible to offer something
    like this.

Wayne, is the Merchant whose order form you are linking to using a "seed" variable in his order link?

No, he is not using a seed variable and the link direct to the order
form has worked for me for a very long time.

OK, I've switched my promotion back to this product and am using
a hoplink. Will give it one more chance and see what happens the
    rest of the day.

    Wayne,

Nope -- we haven't changed anything on our side. But it is always possible that the merchant has made changes that might be affecting you. I just thought that a direct link to a known reliable sales page could reduce the complexity and possibly fix your problem.

Anyone experiencing trouble should also be sure to read our hoplink FAQ, just to make triple sure you haven't made a mistake. Here is the location of our complete ClickBank FAQ Library: http://www.clickbank.com/faq

Good luck Wayne -- I know this has been a royal pain for you.

The link format I have been using is:
    http://www.clickbank.net/sell.cgi?mynickname_merchantnickname/17/productname

Product number 17 is the link the merchant gave me so that my
tracking code would be on the thank you page he set up for me.
When I click on the link it takes me to the order page with the
correct price amount and product name. The merchantnickname is
the same nickname he uses for the hoplink so he can't change the
commission amount or it would affect all other affiliates also.

Well, after switching to the hoplink, I am seeing sales again. I don't
know what happened to the direct to order link. I have competition
advertising in Adwords that are using the direct link to the order
form also, would be nice to know if they are still seeing normal
sales or not. I will need to wait and see what happens over a period
of time though. I did start seeing sales Monday night after 5PM still
using the direct to order link and Tuesday morning, then it seemed
like someone turned the spicket off again and Wednesday I had
no sales of this product despite spending $60 promoting it. I really
hate not being able to track my sales with the hoplink though. Anyone
know of a good way for an affiliate to track sales without it requiring
some action on the merchant's part. I know there is software that
will work with the merchant participating, maybe I can talk to the
merchant and see if he will consider doing something.

First - this is a great forum. As a relatively newcomer to ClickBank (4 months), I am so appreciative of this terrific resource.

One of my online colleagues made the observation that when email viruses are circulating, ClickBank sales go down. I too have experienced a sharp decline in sales during the past few days. As a matter of fact, I had no sales on Monday or Tuesday of this week. I also noticed that on those days, my Norton's Antivirus was going crazy picking up the Netsky virus - at least 15/day.

Has anyone else observed this? And if so, what possible explanation could there be?

    Hey, welcome Doc Smile

I don't have any answers for you, but one wild guess could be that
people are just deleting emails for fear of viruses and some legitimate
    marketing/promotion emails/ezines got caught ? ... just a wild guess.

    Warm regards,
    Adrian

    Yes i agree,

Viruses circulating may have something to do with it. I saw a sharp increase in virus infected emails hitting my box in recent days (which directly corresponds to slow- to none sales days with CB).

Funny but looks like someone may have turned the tap again. I had a record sales day yesterday (from 0-1 sales in 4 days to 9 sales last night alone and with all my adwords campaigns disabled......go figure).

But i agree re viruses. I am promoting as well as selling directly also none CB products and i did notice a drop in sales every time there is a major virus outbreak. The drop is not as sharp as CB sales but it is very noticeable.

Don't you feel like hanging those idiots that keep producing that crap and infecting 100's of thousands of computers world wide. They just keep killing online business making sure that people are busy with systems upgrades, OS re-installation, virus software updates and other vegetables instead of being busy shopping online.

Your 9 sales from 0 Adwords ads might have come from repeat visitors who had the cookie set up when they visited first time.
