A few days ago I had a sale from mid October 2004 refunded!

146 days later, almost two months PAST the 90 day refund period.

    INCREDIBLE!

I got a refund that was around 150 days after the sale before.

The sale was around early june and was processed in late november.

I don't know why, but they probobly were just trying to avoid a chargeback.

For them, and the merchant a refund is much better than a chargeback.

    A timely thread.

Here is today's issue of my newsletter

    =============================
    THE CLICKBANK GUIDE
    =============================

    Issue 60: March 22, 2005
    Harvey Segal, Editor
    hsegal@supertips.com

I'm having a bad week with refunds.

Yes - me, the man who wrote the book
    "Stop Those ClickBank Refunds "

But some refunds just can't be anticipated.

Like this request which was sent directly to ClickBank

    == Subject: I was billed, but I don't recall what I bought.

== I don't remember purchasing anything using this billing
== service. Please either refund my purchase or stop
    == billing my credit card.

His memory must have been very poor, the purchase took
    place just TWO days earlier.

Another case, a straight chargeback - no contact with
myself or ClickBank - for a purchase made on September
    21. This took place on March 21.

Notice the 6 month gap. The customer had waited till the
last day when a credit card transaction can be disputed.

However my Refunds book WILL help you eliminate many of
the refunds from everyone else other than these
    professional refunders.

    But it's not for affiliates.

It's for those other ClickBank clients, you know the
ones that produce their own products.

    What's the term ?

Ah yes, ClickBank used to call it a 'merchant'

They then changed it to 'seller'.

While I was midway writing my book they kindly changed
it to 'vendor' so I had to amend the content and
    retitle it ClickBank Vendor SuperTips.

Soon after the term suddenly became 'publisher'.

Lucky I didn't do another change because a few days
    later it reverted to 'vendor'.

I now notice that it is back to 'publisher' again.

Now to add to the confusion, at Commission Junction the
term they use is an 'advertiser'.

    And an affiliate is a . . . 'publisher'.

Well I'm not going to make further changes just yet to
my site or my books which you can find by the way here

    http://www.clickbankguide.com

But one place where I have made global changes was at
    this site

"The Complete Guide to Ad Tracking Programs"

I decided to improve on the terminology used for the two
types of tracker and after asking around I settled on

    - Tracking Software: for a program you install on your site.
    - Tracking Service: for a program that runs at a 3rd party site.

I also added the changes to my free ebook Ad Tracking
SuperTips and took the opportunity to rip out the last
    chapter.

It contained reviews of tracking programs but was badly
out of date as the last release was over two years ago.

I replaced it with a review of the tracker I personally use.

So what has all this to do with ClickBank you ask ?

Well, first, whatever marketing activity you do you
should be tracking and testing your results.

And when it comes to ClickBank this tracker (which is
the first type - Tracking Software, an easy install at
your site) can achieve the affiliate dream.

It can track sales for affiliate programs.

For example if you use AdWords and keyword 1 produces
1000 visitors and keyword 2 only 100 you may decide to
focus on keyword 1. But suppose the other brought in
    more sales ?

There's no way normally to know this information but
with this tracker all it needs is one line of code to be
added to the product thank you page.

So go ahead right now and read the book

    http://www.ad-tracking.com/adbook.html

then have a word with the person who owns that page.

    You know, the Vendor/Merchant/Seller/Publisher/Advertiser.

    Regards
    Harvey

    Damn!

    frustating at the same time.

and the fact that they could just refund it a few days after they still wait.. nothing less than jerks and cowards!
