    SUPERTIPS EZINE

    Issue 105: July 23, 2005
    Harvey Segal, Editor

    Hello SuperTips readers,

I received two very DIFFERENT messages after the last
    issue.

    * One, thanking me for the newsletter, came from a newbie.

    * The other reader was the extreme OPPOSITE of a newbie.

So what would that be ?

    A website owner ?

    No - more than that

    A very experienced marketer ?

    Try again.

    A guru ?

    No - even better.

    A super guru !

Yes - he is the man who first introduced me to Internet
marketing - way back in 1997.

And his was the first book I ever purchased.

Note, I said book not ebook.

Hard to believe but there were no such things as proper
    ebooks in those days.

I recall seeing his ad about how you could sell
information on this new medium called the Internet and
trotted off to my bank to get some dollars to send off.

Well there was no way to buy online then.

And after receiving his book I suggested - because I had
seen it done elsewhere - that maybe we could have an
arrangement whereby if I sold a book for him he would give
    me 50% commission.

I think they now call this idea an affiliate program ?

Such things were either unheard of then or in their
    infancy.

Like autoresponders, ad trackers, mailing list software.

There was no Google, PayPal, ClickBank.

Who knew about search engine rankings, cloaking or - the
latest fad - blog and ping ?

Although we now have so many useful tools to help us
Internet marketing was so much less complicated then.

And now with all this advanced technology we seem to
    forget the newcomer.

I'm continually being asked for advice on how to get
started and basic questions like how to get a domain name,
link it to a host site and use ftp

So here's my plea: we really need someone to develop a
product which takes newcomers from start to finish with
    explanations all the way.

Anyway back to the super guru.

    Who is he ?

Well you might be one of his newsletter subscribers - he
    has over 150,000.

If not you should certainly have seen his articles - they
    appear all over the Net.

He is the very famous Jim Daniels.

So let's understand how he became a super guru and see if
    we can emulate him.

Well he was one of the first to begin a regular
newsletter - the BizWeb Gazette - always filled with
    valuable information.

Typically Jim will describe a new tool or technique that
he has come across and explain exactly how he has
implemented it and the results he achieved. All explained
in simple to understand language. Then he will turn this
into an article and distribute it to publishers eager for
good content. Which of course means more links back to his
    site and more subscribers.

But it's possible that the pupil may now be able to teach
a trick or two to the master - and here I offer you my tip
    for today.

I'm now developing articles which will provide even more
incentive for publishers to distribute. Because the
resource link at the end is rebrandable - which means
publishers can profit with commissions from subsequent
    sales.

To show how it's done here are my articles so far

23 Ways To Use An Ad Tracker
    http://www.supertips.com/articles/23ways.htm

How To Produce The PERFECT Viral Ebook
    http://www.supertips.com/articles/viralebook.htm

As mentioned in a previous issue I plan to distribute them
with the aid of Article Announcer and I'll show how, with
my results, in a later newsletter. Just in the same way
    that Jim operates.

If you want to look at Article Announcer before then just

    http://www.supertips.com/cgi-bin/b/t.cgi?articleannouncer

Going back to Jim's subscriber base let me show you the
    power of a 150,000+ list.

He mentioned my book 101 SuperTips in his newsletter last
year and declared it "the best ebook on Internet Marketing
    I've read in years"

I was able to write to him the next day:

"Jim, you know those hype type messages where they say 'my
hit counter was spinning out of control'.

Well for the last hour it's actually been happening as my
autoresponder is getting requests for my book at the rate
of 2 or 3 every minute. It's now over 150 in the first
    hour."

But what I must tell you is that Jim made no profit from
    his announcement and recommendation.

He did NOT request a customized version of my book.

Indeed, as well as being a top guru he is also
acknowledged as one of the Net's good guys.

You'll find 101 SuperTips (a free book) here
    http://www.supertips.com/101/

But we're forgetting - why did Jim write to me ?

Well he asked if I would like to take a look at his latest
product. It's a CD which is the ANSWER to the plea I made
    earlier.

A complete step by step plan for the newbie.

Actually it's more than that - it's also for the other
type of newbie, the one who had been involved in Internet
marketing but is still struggling - in other words a
    newbie to SUCCESS.

The CD is superbly organised into 18 separate sections,
with audio and visual aids, starting from the most logical
    - how to get ideas for a web business product.

It then moves progressively into areas such as keyword
research, website creation (with a WYSWIG tool provided),
search engine optimisation, article writing (of course),
    affiliate programs and much more.

After viewing the information you are then guided to
actually carry out the task for each section.

You can keep the CD on your PC like a bedside book and
simply click to your topic of interest. It's just like
having a super guru at your side.

So here is how I replied to those two messages I received
    after the last issue

    * To Jim:

"as a resource for a newbie to Internet marketing it's the
    best of it's kind"

    * To the newbie:

"just go and look at this CD ..

Yeah, I have to say, Jim Daniels is a class act who stands out among the many hucksters and snake-oil salesmen on the web.

I have his first book and it's a great no B.S. guide to making a living on the web. Getting an actual book (as in made from trees) is much easier reading than staring at an ebook on my monitor flickering at me at 60 HZ.

    Thanks for the link.

    From one guru to another.

Jim Daniels was one of the gurus I featured in my first
book Guru Magic (which is free at http://www.supertips.com/gurus/ )

Another was Michael Campbell who is one of the very top
experts in the field of search engine optimization.

Here is how Michael reviewed Jim's course.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------

This course is nothing like I've ever seen. It uses an animated
butler-like person to help guide you instead of a real human.
It's downright cute and amusing. It certainly takes the edge off
the learning experience, making it a far more pleasurable one.

We're taken on a 'view it and do it' tour of all the fundamentals
of running an online business. Starting with keyword research, we
go through the process of researching the competition, deciding
what we want to sell, customizing html templates, getting
graphics, and the basics of making search engine friendly pages.

After completion of the first two sections, we're taken through
the process of marketing our new site. The little animated butler
teaches us all the fun...damentals of email marketing, search
engine traffic, content sharing, affiliate programs and joint
ventures. All the essentials are covered.

The 'view it and do it' is a great concept to jump-start an
Internet business, especially for newcomers to the web. After you
watch something performed by the butler, you can immediately
click on the link, which leads to online tutorials, and a back
end that allows you to master the tasks that you've just seen.

The only real 'weakness' in this course is a lack of html
tutorials. The course does include an html editor and
templates. But it relies on modifying the templates to get
started. That's ok for most people, but personally, I'd rather
learn an html editor and have more freedom in my website designs.

But going it 'the long way' and learning from scratch is not for
everyone. As long as you don't mind starting from templates -
which can save a heck of a lot of time - this course is a very
slick package. You'll hardly even notice that you're learning.

EZ Web Business Builder is very entertaining, professionally
produced and easy to use. If it's a fast track to building a
successful online business that you're after, this course is for
    you.
