I want to make sure it actually improves conversion rates before trying.
It would be nice, if it automatically loaded up the cookie preferences for the user somehow. |
I'd like to hear about results too. I just ask not to post here results of testing with 100-500 visitors, but with 1000+ |

If you try it then you will see that I added an instructions on how to enable cookies in different versions of major nine web browsers. |

Well, so far I have installed the script on one site and I have 72 total visitors and 52 had their cookies enabled. Which is a pretty suprising amount. Once I get about 1000 I should have a good idea of the average percentage of visitors I was missing.
I would imagine that some people won't enable their cookies anyway, which doesn't matter to me since I wouldn't get credit for the sale if they did buy. I suppose they will just have to go back and click on another ad on my site such as adsense _________________

MilesBaker, please note that if visitor come to that page where they see how to enable cookies, some visitors click "try again" link before enabling cookies so that hit will be counted.

That is why I developed this script. But from the vendor's standpoint my script is bad idea
BTW, as I said before, I am a vendor also and for my affiliates to be sure that they get credit for sale I have a slightly different cookie checking script. If visitor, that were sent to me by affiliate, come to my site via hoplink and has cookie disabled - she get the message that offer to turn cookies on and try again. |

No problem. I can modify script to use that link format. PM me if you really need it. |

Suggestion:
Can the script detect which browser is being used and only
provide the cookie setting instructions for that one ?

I planned to add this feature but while learning how JS works on different browsers i have decided not to do that as there can be a lot of glitches. |

Thanks for the script Master, this is a super good idea! I can see where this has a future. If enough affiliates used this and it worked on all the biggest networks (CJ, LinkShare, Shareasale etc) it may just cause people to rethink their paranoia over harmless affiliate tracking cookies.
I love this concept, I just finished playing around with it and it seems to work fine for me. Hope you keep us posted on any new updates. Let me know when you go commercial with the other big network links included and I'll be glad to buy it.
Thanks Again! |

Everyone who need it can download script here:
Cookie Checker for ClickBank
Also I added dynamical nicknames feature that CAD001 asked for above.

I looked at the script and it is good.
Is there any way to change the color of the "red" screen that temporarily flashes before redirecting? _________________ EasyWritingBiz.com - How To Earn A Full Time Living Doing Freelance Writing On The Internet! 75%

Sure. Just open the script in any plain text editor and do a search for the following line
bgcolor="red"
and replace it with any color you want. |

Miles, where in the script did you insert your picture?
I tried several times inserting a picture all over around the text below, but it kept resulting in an error when it was executed...
I can add text to it and change the title but I cant find a spot that works to insert the picture.
Im uploading everything fine in ASCII mode and have already chmod it 755
It works fine on my server, just not when I insert a image inside it.
Everytime I insert it into the body, just the image loads up and not the browser links.
Any help would be appreciated.
Here is the small piece of coding where I was trying to insert the image...

Well, I just tested it with 492 people who clicked on this particular affiliate link.
Results: 364 had cookied enabled, and a whopping 128 users didnt have cookies enabled.
That is CRAZY.
Thats around 30% of the users who clicked on the link. They all didnt have cookies enabled.
Does anyone know the correct percentage? Anyone ever research this before?
I switched it back to the regular hoplinks until further people beta test the script.
One question:
Many browsers only block some cookies (there are many types). How strong does their security settings have to be in order for the script detect of someone won't accept cookies?
A suggestion:
Many of the browser instructions for turning on cookies make sure you RESTART your computer. This isn't good because, say your affiliate link was on a page with a confusing URL such as http://yoursite.com/cheap_red_super_widgets.html
The visitor most likely wont remember the URL.
They may remember how they found your site. For example a PPC ad, or a Ezine ad.
If it was a PPC ad they might search for what they searched for before and click your ad again to get back to it.
I would recommend adding a "bookmark this page before closing" link before you tell them to restart their PC or restart their browser. _________________ EasyWritingBiz.com - How To Earn A Full Time Living Doing Freelance Writing On The Internet! 75%

I tested it with 20000 visitors and over 27% has cookies disabled or blocked by some security software like ZoneAlarm, Norton Security, etc.

I have used the most friendly cookie to test if they are enabled or not. It doesn't use any private info so even if visitor's browser has high security cookie settings but still allow some most friendly cookies - test will be passed.

Please remove that "RESTART your computer" from instructions as I have tested almost all browsers and they never required computer to be restarted. All browsers started accepting cookies without even closing window. |

This may be an illogical statement for this thread but I
seem to recall ClickBank stating somewhere in their
documentation or in the transaction process something
about cookies needing to be enabled ?
Does that ring a bell with anyone ?

What are you saying Harvey?
That you can not order at clickbank if cookies are disabled? |
