SUPERTIPS EZINE
Issue 111: October 18, 2005
Harvey Segal, Editor
Hello SuperTips readers,
I've just spent 30 of the most productive and profitable
minutes - resulting in an instant increase in a web page
conversion rate.
And you can copy my findings - no charge.
I implemented a technique I found at a site.
Now, when I show you the site I predict that you are going
to make a completely WRONG assumption.
Want a bet ?
OK, here we go.
The site was
http://www.supertips.com/r/dpg.htm
Well, what did I do ?
What was this profitable idea I used ?
I added an unblockable popup to my site ?
WRONG ...
See I TOLD you.
You must never ever assume.
Because when you ASSUME you make an ASS out of U and ME.
Now I must add here that I AM using Michael Hopkins' Popup
Generator elsewhere to great effect - and that is where I
use an exit popup to provide an alternative offer on an
order page.
But that's not what I'm referring to in this instance.
Here is what I copied.
Look at the way he has included reviews of his product and
highlighted the key points in eye-catching yellow
headlines.
So I did the same for my new book.
Here it is
http://www.supertips.com/ultimate.htm
(Update 15/01/06: Format and colours have since changed)
Busy visitors who have no time to read the detail will now
just scan through those headlines and, suitably impressed,
click the download button.
I think I can hear already hear the sound of clicking ...
Now if you have read the Ultimate SuperTip you will know
that although it is free there is a Paypal button sitting
at the end of the book.
When it came to implementing this I did not fancy re-
learning the Paypal instructions about creating a button,
encryption, security and the like. Or of capturing contact
details of customers.
So with great foreboding I decided to choose a download
management tool from the list at
http://www.clickbankguide.com/security.htm
Why foreboding ?
Because the last time I tried to implement such a tool I
quit after reading through 40+ painful pages of a user
document, requiring lots of complex changes to my systems.
But this time I had an unexpected and delightful surprise.
I chose DLGuard which took just minutes to install and set
up.
One simple link takes care of the whole Paypal situation
and gives me a database of exportable customer
information.
I can see an instant summary of all downloads for all my
products.
On the security side I can choose to leave a download link
up for any length of time and if a customer has genuinely
missed out on downloading I can simply reset the duration
and email him the link again.
There are lots of other neat features and the author Sam
Stephens is very responsive and happy to accommodate new
feature suggestions at his support forum.
Question: why don't all software authors provide support
forums ?
You can find this exceptional and highly professional
program here
http://www.supertips.com/cgi-bin/b/t.cgi?cbdm
I'm looking at the stats download summary right now to
check the results of those clicking sounds above.
Regards
Harvey
