THE CLICKBANK GUIDE
=============================
Issue 67: December 9, 2005
Harvey Segal, Editor
hsegal@supertips.com
Why no newsletter for 3 months ?
Well there's been little news of note from ClickBank or
any new 3rd party products which help run your ClickBank
operation.
But there are a few in the works and one just launched
today which I'm going to tell you about.
By the way if you were really missing me you could have
read up on all the back issues: I laboured long and hard
to post them in the forum archives
http://www.supertips.com/r/archives.htm
Now if you are a ClickBank vendor here is my tip on how
you can increase your sales. Affiliates can keep reading
too.
TIP: the better you treat your affiliates the better you
will do.
Obvious ?
Well let's see how you rate.
I take it that you provide them with lots of ideas on how
to promote your product.
And then do you ruin it by saying "here's your affiliate
link
http://AFFILIATE.VENDOR.hop.clickbank.net "
A link which will be pounced upon by anyone with the
faintest idea of how ClickBank works as he eagerly plugs
in his own nickname to deprive your affiliate of his
rightful commission.
Do you tell your affiliate
"Oh by the way you might need to disguise that link. You
need to search around for how it's done"
Now - wouldn't it be nice if YOU could provide a disguised
link.
Further, if you have multiple products in your ClickBank
account do you cram them all onto one page and tell your
affiliates
"Sorry, ClickBank only allows me to have one landing page
so you'll need to instruct your visitors where to find
Widget ABC: tell them it's about two-thirds down the
page, three paragraphs below the logo and two inches in
from the right hand side"
Wouldn't it be better if you could lead them DIRECTLY to a
sales page devoted solely to that product ?
Well a new tool can now do all this - and even throws in
visitor click stats for you.
But there's one extra feature which will have your
affiliates purring.
Do you show the SAME sales page to every visitor ?
How about one page for a newbie and a different page for a
veteran.
Or one for a newsletter publisher and one for an ebook
author.
I think you get the picture.
After all if you were a salesman knocking on doors and
announcing your new wonder health product you wouldn't
give the same presentation to a 95 year old man as to a 7
foot, 25 stone wrestler would you ?
It's no problem writing different sales pages EXCEPT for
this - what do you do about your affiliates ?
How can you give them the choice ?
Problem solved - by this new tool.
It's called HopGuard at
http://www.supertips.com/r/cbae.htm
And before I even tried it I KNEW it would be a great tool.
That's because it's written by Sam Stephens who turns out
exceptional products backed up by superb support and a
great forum.
I already use his download management tool DLGuard.
I wrote about it in Issue 111 of the SuperTips Ezine -
there you are, you can now make use of the archives to
read about it
http://www.supertips.com/r/archives.htm
You will have come across DLGuard if you have taken up the
purchase offer at the end of my book The Ultimate SuperTip
http://www.supertips.com/ultimate.htm
And you will have seen, with reference to my earlier
statement about providing affiliates with the right
promotion material, that I have now listed 18 ideas and 11
target audiences on the "How to Promote" page.
No wonder my affiliates are earning lots and lots of $10
sales for their one measly $10 outlay.
Finally, if you recall, I did ask ClickBank affiliates to
stay behind and carry on reading.
If your affiliate program managers do not offer HopGuard
don't despair. You can still utilize the
same features - disguised links and links to individual
pages - by using your own tool. For all your affiliate
programs.
Again it's one which I personally use - Affiliate Cloner

Harvey

I wouldn't use software. It's really easy.
Does your server support php? If so, all you need to do is use header redirects (1 line of code).
If you want it a little more "advanced" combine it with a database like most people do.
Taking it a step further, use mod rewrites with .htaccess
The result:
- Your cloaked urls can look like http://www.mydomain.com/information/tag
"Information" can be whatever you choose (could say byebye or linkout but I would keep it more 'concealed').
Tag is whatever you choose to identify your link by. I would go with keywords.
If I'm promoting the free google ads product in my signature, I would make my cloaked affiliate url look like:
http://www.mydomain.com/information/Free_Google_Ads
This can be achieved with .htaccess mod_rewrite (default on many apache supported webservers).
Basically what you do is you tell the webserver (clientside) to rewrite this:
http://www.mydomain.com/information/Free_Google_Ads
to this:
http://www.mydomain.com/script.php?tag=Free_Google_Ads
Search engines/ users will never see this url.
- Then your script.php will query the database for 'Free_Google_Ads' and retrieve the appropriate target url.
Then you use
header(Location: $targeturl);
for your redirect!
Voila!
Saved you money on buying software.
Also your database structure can be as simple as;
Tag - Full url
If you want to take it further, add counting the number of clicks, logging the IP (so you can filter out google bot for example), Log country, log browser, etc.
If you're a-techical I can help you set it up depending on what your server supports.
I won't need any logins or anything so no worries. _________________ KeyWord Excavator - Very Hot Product! LSI KeyWord Research at its finest! |

Thanks SoAmazed!
I don't understand all the particulars, but it looks like you're creating a simple mySql database?
thanks,
