I am hoping Steve can respond to this. I have been linking direct to
the order form with one merchant I promote, and this has been
working very well for me. I do have the permission of the merchant
to do this. Will this link always give me credit for sales? However, it
does seem like once in a while my sales will just stop, and I wonder
if this type of link has been deactivated or not. Today is one of those
days, not one sale yet. I have emailed Clickbank about this and was
told it was alright to use this link as long as I had permission from
    the merchant.

I've been pretty successfull for about the past 4 years with Clickbank,
but sometimes the sales do seem to stop for some reason. Hopefully
this forum will help us all to be more successful with Clickbank.

    Hi Wayne.

It is fine to link directly, as long as you follow the rules listed in the Hoplink FAQ, which you can read at:
    http://www.clickbank.com/hoplinks/hoplinkFAQ.html

If the vendor page is out of commission, of course you won't see sales. You might want to visit the site during down periods to verify the site is operational, and that the URL you have linked to has not changed.

    Steve,

I don't think you understood my question. I was asking about linking
directly to the order form, so it wouldn't matter if the merchant's site
was working or not. I have the sales page on my site and link directly
to the order form using the following type of link:

    http://www.clickbank.net/sell.cgi?MYNICKNAME_MERCHANTNICKNAME/PRODUCTNUMBER/PRODUCTNAME

I add my nickname ahead of the merchant's nickname in the sales link.
I was told this was ok as long as I had permission from the merchant.
So even if the merchant's site was down, I should still see sales as long
as my site is up. Can I depend on this type of link to give me credit
all the time? There are times when the sales seem to stop, and I always
wonder if this type of link is being deactivated sometimes. Most of the
time it works really well for me.

Update on sales: I went all morning and into the afternoon today with
no sales, now the last 4 hours I had 4 sales, one each hour.

    Wayne --

Right I see. I was all excited to answer you and didn't read carefully!

The answer is, yes. Linking direct to the order form will result in you receiving proper credit.

STANDARD DISCLAIMER: It is possible that a consumer behaves strangely and somehow causes you to lose credit, but that would be extremely rare. It is impossible for us to guarantee you a commission under ALL circumstances, because no one can predict all the things consumers are likely to do (like erasing cookies).

    Steve,

The technique that Wayne is referring to is widely used but has long been supported by ClickBank on an unofficial basis. I have always assumed that ClickBank makes no guarantee that it won't be discontinued.

Can you clarify your position on this? Can we rely on this facility being available (and not subject to syntax changes) in the future?

    Many thanks,
    Tim

    Tim,

I can't promise it won't EVER change, but we do support it today. If we see Wayne making too much money, we will have to think about a change. Other than that, I think it works pretty well and will be supported for the foreseeable future.

BTW -- it is described in the hoplink FAQ as a "legal" link.

LOL. I have a ways to go before I make too much money. February was a
very good month for me, but not every month is as good. This week
has been a slower week, don't know if the tax deadline would have
anything to do with that or not. If I didn't have my advertising costs,
things would look a lot better. But I do all right with Clickbank.

    Steve,

Thanks for the clarification. Your presence in this forum is a very positive sign which, I am sure, will give ClickBank members a renewed confidence in the service and in their own abilities to get the most out of it.

    Best regards,
    Tim

I have emailed Clickbank over the past couple of years with questions, and they have answered about half of my emails. As a former librarian, I would rather create info-products, and sell other people's, than promote shoes or exercise machines! So I am an example of one of those modest-income-so-far members who is much happier with Clickbank now that this forum is here and Steve's answering questions. Thanks, everyone!

I have a question for Steve, would you advise that affilaite cloak there links or is this really an issue. I have read a great deal on commission being stolen I'm not sure if its happening to me or not but would you advise someone who is concerned on the issue to use a product like affiliate cloner that would help provent problems. thanks
