I"m still in the dark about how to tell when a merchant makes your link "disappear" and you lose a commission (I first read about this in Harvey's book).

In this case, the landing page is a URL like this:
    http://www.merchantlandingpage.com/?hop=myClickBankID

but when I click on the "order now" button the URL changes to:
    http://www.merchantorderpage.com/ORDER.htm

    MY ID is gone...

Then on THAT page there's ANOTHER "click here to Secure Purchase" form, which, when clicked leads to a looooooong URL:

    http://www.clickbank.net/order/0.cgi?ii=34303765626633663630356779316e672e616c6c696e7465726e
    652e747677616c6c70726f2e3030312e30&&c=605gy
    1ng&t=MERCHANT&

    [hard returns by me so URL would fit in page}

...my ID is still gone. Is it still being tracked?

    Thanks,
    Tom

AFter you click on the order link, and then click again to the next page
with the long url, you should see your affiliate nickname at the bottom
of the page. If you see (affiliate=none), then you are not getting credit.

    Hi, Wayne:

I can see some code whiz by on the bottom IE bar, but it goes by too fast to read. Is there something which is supposed to remain in the bar when the ClickBank order box appears? I see nothing down there except "done."

Sorry to be dense, but I DO appreciate the help on this issue.

    Thanks again,
    Tom

    Edited to add:

I just tried a web hosting program, where the landing page is:
    http://www.xxx.com/?hop=myClickBankID

But the landing page is the home page of the hosting company!
What happens in a case like that?

    Hi Tom,

Clickbank uses a combination of cookies (permanent and session cookies)
to track affiliates. So, although you see a "loooonnngg" url, with no
apparent affiliate ID, you will be credited with the sale, unless the
customer has completely blocked all cookies.

As Wayne has mentioned, the surest way is to check for your affiliate
ID at the bottom of the payment page [affiliate=yournickname].

If you see it there, you'll be credited. If not, then you won't be credited.

    Warm regards,
    Adrian

When you say, "payment page" are you referring to the "official" red and white ClickBank box where you enter your state?

If so, I've tried that on several different programs and see nothing in the bottom pane of IE except "done."

No, it's the page after you've entered your state. The affiliate ID
is located at the bottom of the webpage, not on the IE pane/bar.

Regarding your other query, when someone clicks on a hoplink,
he is redirected to Clickbank first, where Clickbank will tag the visitor
with the affiliate's cookie. Then, the visitor will be redirected back to
the merchant's site, and landing page will look like:

    http://www.xxx.com/?hop=myClickBankID

I'd suggest that you drop by www.clickbankguide.com and pick up
Harvey's excellent ebook on Clickbank (it's free). It will give you a solid
    introduction to Clickbank.

And, when you want to graduate to be a master, head over to Tim's Definitive Guide at: http://www.definitiveguides.com/products/clickbank/

Now, I'm going to hit the sack ... it's 1:45 am over here in Malaysia ...zzzz Very Happy
