I always despair when I receive multiple offers for a
special promotion - all carrying the exact same
recommended message that the promoter has provided.

    In particular phrases like

    "It blew me away"

"He spilled his guts on this"

"I begged him to give my subscribers a special deal"

I would never use the material provided and always write
    my own version.

So I thought you may like to see today's issue of the
    SuperTips Ezine.

    Hello SuperTips readers,

    I've just cleared my desk.

I've stopped work on my latest project.

I've stopped all my other Internet marketing work.

    I'm only answering emails.

I've told my family not to interrupt me.

    The cat has been banished.

I'm now going to lock myself in a room and spend the
next few days engrossed in a large package which has
    arrived in the post.

I'm going to report back to you on Tuesday August 17th.

If you want an inkling of what this is all about please

I agree with you totally, Harvey!

I subscribe to many newsletters and it really bugs me when they're so blatantly using a prepared script... don't they know that MOST of us get more than one newsletter in the same niche and are VERY likely to discover their laziness? Wink Heck, in this particular instance, I imagine MOST folks got the message directly from John himself (like me). I think I've seen about a dozen different mailings referring to his special report.

You used an original approach... WAAAAY better than others I've seen! Very Happy

And I don't blame you a bit for banishing the cat... mine always walks on the desk to get my attention when I'm trying my best to ignore him and read or use the computer. Wink

Your right just about every newsletter or service I am subscribed to has sent out a message on Reese's newsletter and new product.

Its got to the point that I am expecting the newsletters to be about it when I see a new promotional email from them. I guess it shows Reese's marketing skills though.

Anyway, I take it you got his new mega product? Let us know how it is eh?

    Hmmmm...

Maybe as a forum mod you can access forum stats, like how many times a link has been clicked?

Or else you're putting spyware on all our pc's everytime we visit the CSF... Wink Very Happy

    Ok folks, here it is:

    SUPERTIPS EZINE

    Issue 85: Aug 17, 2004
    Harvey Segal, Editor

    Hello SuperTips readers,

As you may recall I banished the cat from my room last
week so that I could spend my time studying the package
    which arrived in the post.

And I have to say I'm very DISAPPOINTED.

Yes I'm very disappointed about how so many fellow
marketers have heralded this package with the exact same
    announcement.

They just grabbed a few paragraphs from the sample copy
and blasted it out to their list.

They talked about being blown away and asking permission
to send you the special report.

    Where was the originality ?

None of that would have impressed me to read any
    further.

But the mention of my banished cat would certainly have
    persuaded me.

And it also did for so many of you who went on to read
the pre-launch letter from John Reese about his new
product - a course called Traffic Secrets which he
describes as his 'life's work' - over 10 years in the
    making.

I can certainly testify that John has been around that
long. I actually purchased his autoresponder package way
back in 1997. It came with an affiliate program and the
concept of this pairing in those early days was unique -
    an Internet first.

Before we even talk about Traffic Secrets you may
already have seen an example of John's originality.

Some doubters may find it hard to believe that he ran a
sell out workshop for 125 people at a cost of $4,500 per
    seat.

So what did he do ? He filmed the closing part of the
course - where individual audience members stood up and
spoke about what they had learned (famous marketer Gary
Halbert said it was the best seminar he had ever
attended) - and made it into a video clip which he
included on the special report page. Very smart
    thinking.

Most of that workshop is contained in the course and
while other may be pointing you to favourable quotes and
reviews I'm going to show you something even better and
    non-artificial.

I found it in a forum yesterday where people were posting
to a thread asking - 'is John Reese the real deal ?'

    There was this response

"I was at the John Reese seminar and had a very good
time learning so many new things that I cannot tell you.
It was very costly of a seminar, but the price was a
minute pittance compared to everything great thing that
    was taught to me.

If you want to learn about how to get great traffic to
your web site, it is important that you buy his Traffic
Secrets product. I already have a copy of this very
great product because I am promoting it on some of my
sites that focus on things like the great techniques he
    teaches.

I have never left an affiliate code in this forum and I
never will, so as always in my posts, I have nothing to
promote or gain. Believe me, you will want this product
    for you home."

I want you to note the final paragraph. That is what you
    call ... UNBIASED.

With such positive comments let's see what this is all
    about.

The first section of the course is the Training Guide
which take up 7 DVDs and is also printed out in a 2-
volume manual of over 400 pages.

Now I normally prefer to learn by reading as opposed to
hearing or watching but I found myself looking up from
the printed material to watch John's actual presentation
    on DVD.

He is an excellent presenter, explaining with clarity
and using emphasis where necessary to hammer home key
points which had a much greater effect on me than if I
    was just reading them.

He approaches things that may sound obvious from another
angle and you think yes - it's obvious but why did I not
think of that or you think you were doing something
    right but realize you weren't.

An example: he stresses the importance of keyword
research and the use of tools which assist this like
Wordtracker. Of course - I know about these tools. And
how targetted traffic is the absolute key to success.
    Well that's obvious.

And so why am I not using such a tool ?

    Mmmm, mmmm - I don't know.

Maybe amidst all the daily tasks in an Internet business
I'm losing sight of some fundamentals and I need this
course to get me back on track.

    And how about this.

There are three ways to get traffic
    - Buy it
    - Create it
    - Borrow it

I'd never though about it in that way and John goes on
to explain all three different methods

During the course he persuades a number of search
engine experts to tell us tips that they have not
    revealed before.

And I did love the brilliant twist when he came across
another group of experts wanting to run a contest to see
who could get to the top in Yahoo for whatever category
    in the fastest time.

John challenged them saying he could beat them every
    time.

He came up with a lateral thinking and proven idea, with
no need for any knowledge of search engine techniques.

He also goes on to talk about a concept I've never
really considered but it really makes great sense -
Outsourcing. Paying others to do some of the many online
tasks that take up your precious time and ways to
quickly and cheaply acquire such resources.

For the record Outsourcing Secrets was one section of
    the course along with

    - Testing and Tracking
    - Pay-per-click Mastery
    - Web and Email Advertising Success
    - Search Engine Domination
    - Linking Strategies and Viral Marketing
    - Free Traffic Methods

You'll be seeing more clever ideas just from the way
John is launching this product over the next few days
    and weeks.

I'd like to say that I was able to go through all of the
course and report back to you but it was too huge a
task. Besides the Training Guide on 7 DVDs there are 6
CD-ROM video tutorials each one packed with hours of
    content.

So I decided to pick one and review it. I chose Google
    AdWords Mastery for a reason.

Nowadays when people come to me and ask how to get
started in Internet marketing or how to make their
fortune I tell them that the best and quickest way is to
use AdWords. You can be up and running in a few minutes

It's actually a frightening thought that you can spend
years developing huge content sites, publishing
newsletters, battling with your search engine rankings,
running joint ventures and someone can come along and -
IF they get it right - they can simply surpass you just
    by submitting a Google AdWord.

And what does an Adword consist of ?

It's just one headline, two lines of description and one
or more appropriate keywords. It's that easy.

The secret of course is in that phrase - "if they get it
    right".

The basics of AdWords are not too difficult - the skill
and the big profits are in the testing and tweaking
    which John shows you.

The highlight is a live demonstration - you actually
watch him setting up an ad campaign and then split
    testing it.

He makes a simple one word change and you see an
increase in click thru rate but more important is the
cost per click (CPC) which gets lowered from 0.22 to
    0.21 cents.

Is that such a big deal ?

Well he goes on to explain that that keyword is searched
for 200 times a day, so the saving is $2 a day or 60 a
month. Or to put it another way - for the sake of a 30
second change he just knocked $720 off of his yearly
    advertising expenditure

But that was minor compared to the next figure. John
mentioned that one keyword for one of his sites once
earned him $30,000 in a month.

    Hard to believe ?

Well I watched as he showed a special technique for
improving an ad. It resulted in a startling 11.3%
clickthrough rate. If you are not familiar with Adwords I
can tell you that that is SERIOUSLY good.

If I can get 4% I go dancing around the room.

Those other tutorials which I've not had time
    to watch are
    - Keyword Discovery
    - Overture and PPCSE Tactics
    - Search Engine Empire
    - Partner Profit Machine
    - Exit Traffic Strategies

I have no doubt that they are of the same quality and
will prove as profitable as Google AdWords Mastery

    ----------------------------

OK, if you've seen other announcements today they will
end up with the same final unoriginal sales pitch and a
    link directly to John's site.

But as you'd expect I'm going to do something different
    when you click here

    http://www.supertips.com/issue85.html

    Regards
    Harvey

    EIGHT MONTHS LATER

It's now eight months since I posted the above.

As you may know John Reese made an astonishing million
dollars on the first day of the launch.

But of course amidst all the congratulations and praise
there were still critics who, before even reading the
course, complained of marketing hype and doubted whether his
customers would really achieve any dramatic change in their
    fortunes.

Well once again John comes up with a brilliant idea.

His already long sales page has now been updated to include
the success stories of 124 customers - you will see their
photos, their sites, even traffic and income screenshots.

    Here it is:
