You can try this one, I have been with them for more than 3 years now. My web design clients are also all hosted there. Affordable with quality support.

I use Bluehost.com. They have been reliable for me and have a bunch of services for a very cheap price. Their customer support is excellent as well and very informative.

I will suggest not to go with big name hosts. You will not get proper attention there.

But most important is your requirement - webspace, bandwidht, databases and so on and your budget.

Let me know above and we will suggest you.
    Wish you all the best.

Like toniya said above, its hard to recommend a host without knowing your needs.

I have a reseller account at host gator and its great but I would never host a high traffic website there or any scripts thats resource intensive. Its shared hosting and has many limitations. I also have a vps account at powervps.com another vps account at futurehosting.biz and a dedicated server at softlayer.com

If your just running simple websites with not much traffic, no need for specific server configurations, no large mailouts, large database, or resource intensive scripts then you might want to go with shared hosting because its so cheap. If you need any of the above then you should probably start with a vps.

The best resource in my opinion for finding good web hosts is http://webhostingtalk.com You can read other peoples experiences with different hosts and make an informed decision. You can also find a lot of special discounts being offered by the hosting companies that aren't available on their website.

Thanks you all. I appreciate it. We need to host two sites.

The first one, we need it to be on a dedicated ip and has less than 15 GB bandwidth per month. We need an extremely reliable web host with 24/7 phone technical support. In terms of price, we are willing to pay for a reliable web host. We are not operating a mailing list yet but we may need one, it MySQL is preferred but not a necessity.

The 2nd is fairly small, a cheap affordable yet reliable web hosting would do.

Both sites need php and perl.

    Thanks,

    Arkada.

I would recommend a managed vps account for both sites. Most providers will give you a minimum of 2 unique ip address with the option to buy more for 50 cents to 1 dollar per ip per month. You can set up both of your sites on the same server and still have the first one on a unique ip address.

I don't know if you will be able to get 24 hour phone support without a heavy monthly fee but if you choose a managed vps then you will have 24 hour support desk support. They will take care of any configurations, problems, etc as long as you submit a support ticket asking them to do it. If you go with an unmanaged vps, its cheaper but if you don't know much about linux, apache, mysql, and php configuration then you might get yourself into some trouble.

Here is a link where you can find special offers for vps accounts.

    http://www.webhostingtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=104

Just make sure that once you find an offer you like, search the forum for that company name and read what others are saying. I don't know how many times I had to drop a hosting provider and switch to another one because I didn't do my research.

    Hope that helps.

PS - I recommend staying away from rackforce. Even though you might find some good reviews about them, their tech support are idiots.

    Where are you located?
    I will suggest you tb-hosting.com
They have servers in UK and USA as well as tech support at both places.
Their VPS as well as Dedicated plans are very affordable.
Not to say anything about their support - very prompt and personal - Tony and Michel are managing the things very professionally.
    Good luck.

Host Gator all of the way! $9.95 for a "Baby" hosting account that gives you 600 GB of bandwidth...now THAT is hard to beat!

I will once again suggest you to avoid big name hosts specially Hoftgator and Godaddy. You will get very poor support and hidden charges.

    Wish you all the best.

Unlike others i'll give you real advice without an affiliate link.

If I was you and you're not facing huge traffic etc, then i'd go with either shared hosting or a VPS.

    Shared Hosting:
I'd pick either: Hostgator (hostgator.com) as they're reliable and have live help which is a key issue in my eyes, or dreamhost.

    VPS:
Now, if you don't know already a VPS is a virtual private server, it's like a small dedicated server basically. You'll basically have your own server.

If you don't know linux, then i'd get one with cPanel. You're looking at probably $50/month on a VPS w/ cPanel, a website i've used is rapidvps.com for it, and they're pretty good.

Edit: Oh and another nice point about a VPS is the fact you can purchase a extra IP for $1 so if you don't want to face DDoS attacks or any other risks, then you can have an IP adress for each and every website you have at $1/website per month, this'll mean that if your websites under attack they're not on the same IP so attacking one won't make them all drop like other hosting would.

    Hi James,

first off, thanks for your kind info and hosting recommendations. Appreciated.

Personally I go for Hostgator.com as well.

I also go with Rick, that I do not see anything evil in giving a honest recommendation with an affiliate link. We're all here for business, so to speak and if someones takes the time to help other people and recommend services or products that can be suitable why should he not earn some commissions in case someone finally decides to go with it?

This should not lead to intense aff link posting off course, but as long as it is a honest recommendation and in context to the post I think there should be no worries about.

    All The Best,
    Marcel Cool

Hi, yep I can understand everyone's here with business I just personally find it quite ironic when people use their affiliate links on forums full of affiliates, maybe it's just me though Razz
