    Hello SuperTips readers,

    You see, I've just been dabbling with the PHP programming language.

    I recently had the affiliate system for my book the Ultimate
    SuperTip completely rewritten by a programming outfit and
    I am now adding my own tweaks.

    One of them was to work out conversion stats.

    And it revealed ... the WORST ever conversion
    on the Net.

    Yes - my own book.

    What's happened ?

    Have my copywriting skills gone so downhill ?

    Before my affiliates leave in droves let me explain.

    There was a 'conversion rate' of less than 1%.

    But it was not about 1% of visitors who went on to purchase.

    It was not even about 1% of visitors who just went on to download the book.

    It was far worse.

    It was 1% of visitors to

    who just went on and clicked to the next page !

    In other words 99% did not even bother to go further.

    Gasp.

    But fear not.

    What I should tell you is that I was tracking the
    stats of one particular affiliate.

    And my PHP code would tell me how and where he was advertising.

    Although I knew it before even checking.

    If you have the Ultimate SuperTip you know that
    it includes a promotion guide filled with every method
    I know to promote the book or indeed any other product
    (hint: well worth getting for that alone).

    But it includes a warning

    "Do not use surfing sites or traffic exchanges as they bring huge untargetted
    traffic with poor conversion and use up bandwidth resource"

    Need I explain further ?

    Now if my affiliates are using sensible ways to promote
    the book my job is to continually work on improving
    the 'sales' copy (it's a free book by the way) in
    order to improve the conversion.

    You know - those tweaks that the gurus tell you about
    like having "You" not "I" in the headline and going
    straight to the order page with no intervening page
    and ... and ... but wait.

    Are these changes really going to make the big difference ?

    Maybe they've got it all wrong.
